Healing Hearts, Spreading Hope
At 14, a close baseball teammate of mine was diagnosed with atrial septal defect (ASD) — a condition they had unknowingly lived with since birth. The news was overwhelming, but thanks to the incredible care and expertise of the hospital that treated them, they underwent life-changing surgery that gave them a second chance.
Their story inspired me to create TrueHeart Initiative — to raise awareness, support those facing similar diagnoses, and fund heart research that gives more kids a fighting chance.
Our Mission
Who we are
TrueHeart Initiative was founded to support individuals and families affected by congenital heart conditions, and to fund research that improves how these conditions are understood and treated.
What we do
We raise awareness about heart defects, fund cardiac research at UCSF, and support education around congenital heart conditions. Through fundraising and community outreach, we work to make sure families facing these diagnoses aren't navigating them alone.
Why us?
TrueHeart Initiative started with one family's experience with a congenital heart defect — and grew into an effort to help others facing the same diagnosis get access to better research, resources, and support.
